Taste is ok. Rice texture is a bit dry and hard. In order for the heating element to function effectively the water that you add needs to be at room temp. When I first tried this I was hiking in the alps anTasty and flavorful dishes, d as t high elevation so the water temperature was about 16 degree. At this temperature the heating element doesn't function. p
