The ignition coil is the component that allows the spark plug to emit sparks and ignite the gas mixture in the cylinder. Generally, an ignition coil and spark plug are included in a set for each cylinder.The ignition coil is a transfer medium designed to assign the ignition sequence and transfer the high-voltage current preassigned by the ignition distributor to the spark plug to ignite inside the cylinder. The number of ignition coils and ignition wires is up to the number of engine cylinders.Low-voltage DC electricity is converted into high-voltage electricity, with voltages reaching tens of thousands of volts, which breaks through the ionization of air through the spark plug inside the cylinder to generate electric sparks, and repeats storage and discharge at different frequencies based on different engine speeds. When the primary coil is connected to a power source, a strong magnetic field is generated around it as the current increases, and magnetic energy is stored in the iron core.Structure: Normally, there are two sets of coils in the ignition coil - primary coil and secondary coil. The primary coil adopts thicker enamelled wire, which is usually about 0.5 to 1mm and wound by 200 to 500 turns, while the secondary coil uses thinner enamelled wire, which is usually about 0.1mm and wound by 15000 to 25000 turns. One end of the primary coil connects to the “+” side of the vehicle’s low-voltage power supply; the other end connects to the switching unit (breaker); one end of the secondary coil connects to the primary coil, and the other end connects to the output end of the high-voltage wire to output high-voltage current.
